The Camel Milk ChainThe story of the production and transportation of Camel milk from the Nomadic people of north east Africa to the bustling markets of Nairobi. Made for VSF Suisse: vsf-suisse.ch/vsf/web/de/
In 2011 we visited Kenya with the NGO VSF Suisse, tasked with documenting their work, and producing videos about the climate crisis in the Horn of Africa.
At the time VSF Suisse were implementing a livestock resilience programme, which included supporting nomadic pastoralists in the region.
As part of their work the VSF Suisse vets were assisting with herd management, as well as strengthening supply chains, such as the ‘Camel Milk Chain’ from rural Kenya to the heart of Nairobi.
The horn of Africa continues to be impacted by climate change, with many of these nomadic communities having to adapt their way of life, or simply abandon the land move to urban centres.
